For trip leaders, guides, Scouts, school groups and anyone who walks, rides, paddles or climbs away from the road. Patient assessment, treating for shock, injuries, illness and environmental emergencies, and making the call on evacuation when definitive care is hours away.
Most of the course runs outside as scenarios: a hiker down on a trail, a paddler on the wrong side of the river between the put-in and take-out, a casualty a long way from the car.
